April saw the release of both Final Fantasy VII Remake ( FF7R) and Trials of Mana. If I wanted to relive my glory days of playing Legend of Legaia now, it would cost me $400. On August 15, 2000, North America saw the release of Chrono Cross. Comparing both is apples and oranges, each with their beauty. Many people believe that the story is inferior to Chrono Trigger, with fans leaning on sequelitis. It also added an element of experimentation as if you could figure out a combo and had leveled up your combo gauge enough, you could pull off any move in the game.Īlso, when you pulled off “Arts”, it was filled with great animated attack sequences that gave me the same thrill as pulling off a complex move in a fighting game. Chrono Cross is a masterpiece of its time. While not a direct sequel, the story often references events and characters of the first game. He is helped by the spunky adventurer, Kid, and opposed by the enigmatic Yamaneko. I wish that Square would have hired that dude who showed off his Chrono Trigger 3D remake instead of being cnts by shutting him down and killing the project. Chrono Cross hero Serge is thrust into a parallel world where he died 10 years ago under mysterious circumstances. Both Chrono Trigger and Cross OST's were made by Yasunori Mitsuda. Add Chrono Cross to the package and itd sell like hotcakes. The sound track wasn't even made by Nobuo Uematsu lol. 'Time’s Scar' from Chrono Cross, is hands down not only one of the best songs ever created, but it was a way better opening tune than Chrono Trigger’s.

I loved this system as it felt more like a tactical fighting game. I understand youd like the game Chrono Trigger remade with upgraded graphics but classic. Via a Reddit thread, a massive GitHub list of games from the GeForce NOW leak has emerged, including the listings for a Final Fantasy IX remake, Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, the Resident Evil 4 remake, and even things like a Dragon’s Dogma 2 and a Mega Man Match. Instead of just selecting an attack, when you choose “Fight” you would be able to select from “Right” and “Left” along with “High” and “Low” to string together either a sequence of attacks or a combo move called “Arts”.

Legend of Legaia was turn-based but had a unique component called the “Tactical Arts System”. Speaking of combat, this is where the game truly shined. Though it borrows from Radical Dreamers in its exposition, Chrono Cross is not a remake of Radical Dreamers, but a larger effort to fulfill that games. The graphics were great at the time, especially the more detailed effort put into the combat scenarios.
